StuSie Geburtstag

Hertzliche Gluckwünsche, the StuSie has made it through an entire year. As you will no doubt have noticed, our little blog got a makeover in honor of this milestone. Let me know what you think. The original mandate was to create a place that would allow us all to keep in touch despite the fact that, with true Wanderlust, we've managed to spread out all over the place so that nobody lives near anyone else. I think it's been at least marginally successful, and as such, I'm going to keep posting, and hopefully so will everyone else. Cheers.

StuSie Musik - Ratatat

I was given a CD by a friend of mine from school last week. He said that if I liked Thievery Corporation I might like this, though they're certainly different. Holy shit was he right. The band is called Ratatat, which is even more fun to listen to than it is to type. Totally instrumental, the album I have is called "Classics" and was released on August 22, so it's pretty much brand new. The music is difficult to describe; it's melancholy, but fun. There's way too much slide guitar to call it ambient, and yet it's ideal background music. It sounds pretty clean and simple, but there are many, many little nuances to enjoy. I read in an interview that many of the songs on this album have as many as 70 tracks and samples layered on each other. Sweet sweetness.
This music is too cool for school and as my little lady immediately noticed, it could well be the soundtrack to a Wes Anderson movie. I've included the video to the song "Germany to Germany" below. Check it out.

Magnetic Ribbons

Fuck that shit.
